Vicente Fox Addresses Large Crowd at Alma

A full gymnasium of more than 1,500 people attended a speech by former Mexico President Vicente Fox at Alma College on Sept. 24. Fox, the keynote speaker for the 2008 Robert D. Swanson Responsible Leadership Speaker Series, discussed his life story and responded to questions on the economy, NAFTA, immigration, border issues with the United States, Latin American politics, and leadership.

Fox discussed how he went from driving a Coca-Cola delivery truck to becoming company president to eventually being elected president of Mexico.

Spring Term at Alma is a one-month immersion on a single academic topic that offers learning experiences not typically available during the more traditional 15-week fall and winter terms. For example, during Spring Term 2012, students observed lizards in Bermuda, studied modern economic development in India, performed dance in Taiwan, examined renewable energy in Europe and investigated medicinal plants in the Amazon rainforest.
