President's Cup Awarded to Top Students
ALMA, Mich. - Twenty-one Alma College students were awarded the President's Cup during Honors Convocation on April 3 by Dr. Saundra J. Tracy, Alma's president. The students - 14 freshmen, four sophomores and three juniors - earned the honor by achieving the highest academic standing in their respective classes at Alma.
The tradition of the President's Cup was started in 1968 by Alma's ninth President, Robert D. Swanson. Students earning the honor receive a certificate acknowledging their achievement and have their name inscribed on the appropriate class (freshman, sophomore or junior) President's Cup trophy. The trophies are kept on permanent display in the Reid-Knox Administration Building on campus, where, said Dr. Tracy, "they are a constant reminder of their achievements."
