Three Students Nominated for Prestigious Barlow Trophy
Alma College seniors Ann Armbruster of Ann Arbor, Hadley Boehm of Perry and Terra Teague of Monroe are the 2008 nominees for the Barlow Trophy, Alma’s most prestigious award for a graduating senior.

Much-beloved Bishop Thomas Makarios Dies at Age 81
Bishop Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios, founder and leader of the U.S.-Canada Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church of India and a much-beloved professor of religious studies at Alma College for the past 25 years, died Feb. 22 in England.

Spring Term at Alma is a one-month immersion on a single academic topic that offers learning experiences not typically available during the more traditional 15-week fall and winter terms. For example, during Spring Term ‘07 students explored important cultural sites in China, worked to restore a Jewish Holocaust cemetery in Poland, analyzed ethic politics in Scotland, and studied medieval literature in London.

The business administration major from Monroe has seen first hand the economic effects on southeast Michigan of low-cost imports and Chinese monetary policies.
