Kiltie Marching Band Presents Indoor Show

The Kiltie Marching Band at Alma College moves indoors for its annual concert in the comfort and weather-controlled climate of the Remick Heritage Center.

The performances, featuring the music of jazz legends Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, take place at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Tickets are $10 for adults and free for Alma College staff, students and youth 18 and under. Seating is reserved. Call (989) 463-7304 for ticket information.

The program will feature the music performed at the Alma College football games. It also will include music from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” which will be performed in costume; plus selections by the pipe band, color guard and drum line.

The 90-member band uses platforms, balcony wings, the pit lift and other elevations to create a different sound than what is typically heard during the football halftime shows at Bahlke Field, says David Zerbe, faculty director of the band.

“These musicians are highly motivated and energetic,” says Zerbe. “They have a strong work ethic, play and march with intensity and excellence, and are willing to take whatever time is needed to master the music and the drill.”

The indoor show will end the marching band’s 85th season.
