First Matt Reinke 5K Walk/Run Draws 170 Participants

The first Matt Reinke 5K Run/Walk kicked off on a chilly Saturday, March 31 at Bahlke Field on the Alma College campus led by his parents Jim and Julie, family and friends. Organized by the Exercise and Health Science Honor Society to fund a scholarship in the name of the 2006 Alma College graduate, 170 participants paid to run or walk.

Mr. Reinke died after a short illness in July 2006 at the age of 23. An Exercise & Health Science major, he was an active student at Alma. He played on the football team, helping the Scots to two MIAA championships during his playing career. He was an avid volunteer, working with Habitat for Humanity. He had recently begun his career in teaching as a student teacher at Clare High School, where he coached the ski team.
