Ben Folds Tickets Go On Sale March 15

Singer/pianist Ben Folds brings his solo musical act to Alma College for a live concert April 15 at 6 p.m. in Cappaert Gymnasium.

Tickets go on sale to the general public March 15. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at www.alma.tickets.musictoday.com or at the Alma College Bookstore, (989) 463-7174.

Folds, former lead member of the rock band Ben Folds Five, released “Songs for Silverman” in 2005 as a follow-to his solo album debut, “Rockin’ the Suburbs.” His aggressive piano playing is reminiscent of such rockers as Elton John and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Opening the April 15 concert will be Eef Barzelay, formerly of Clem Snide.

The concert is sponsored by the Alma College Union Board, Student Congress, Greek Life and the Co-Curricular Committee. The Union Board is the primary campus programming student organization that provides entertainment to the campus community.

For more information, contact the Union Board at (989) 463-7329.

Dr. Kristin Olbertson
Departments: History

Kristin Olbertson started college as an anthropology major, but a distributive requirement led her to take “Chaucer’s England,” turning her on to history. And while studying abroad she discovered legal history.

“I’m pretty sure I would never have discovered history, or developed an interest in legal history, if I hadn’t been at a liberal arts college that encourages a broad education, studying abroad and pursuing your passions,” she says.
