Choir Performs Winter Tour Program

The Alma College Choir will wrap up its 2007 winter tour with a final performance at 8 p.m. March 5 at the Remick Heritage Center on the Alma College campus.

Admission is free and open to the public. No ticket is required.

The winter choir tour includes stops in Glen Ellyn, Ill, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Royal Oak and Roscommon from Feb. 24 through March 4.  The March 5 concert in Alma will feature various works from the tour program.

Senior choir member Marcus Hong looks forward to the excitement both of traveling to new venues around the state and returning to the Alma campus to perform for friends in the Heritage Center’s familiar Presbyterian Hall.

“It really takes dedication,” said Hong as seven days of daily performances around the state bring varied acoustics and requests.

The choir will perform songs of the church, like “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” and “From the St. John Passion,” as well as lyrics taken from William Shakespeare in “Blow Thou Winter Wind.”

Other selected works include “Michigan Morn,” “A Red, Red Rose” and “The Bluebells of Scotland,” arranged by Will Nichols, faculty choir director.
