Open Windows Campaign Continues to Make Progress

The Open Windows campaign continues to progress, with total funds received as of Dec. 31, 2006 at $23,964,886, which represents 68 percent of the $35.25 million goal.

“December was a very strong month, with $1,012,000 coming in to support College programs and student scholarships,” said Sally Bowen, campaign coordinator. “We are very appreciative of the very generous gifts that we have received from our alumni and friends.”

The public phase of the Alma College fund-raising campaign was launched Oct. 6. Regional campaign receptions took place in Grand Rapids on Nov. 2 and Midland on Dec. 6. A campaign kick-off event for the Chicago area is planned for March 8 while the kick-off for metro Detroit is set for March 15 at the Cranbrook Science Institute.

The campaign, the largest planned fund-raising effort in Alma’s history, focuses on strengthening student opportunities that build on and enhance classroom learning. The Campaign targets fund-raising goals in five key areas:

• $11 million for the Center for Responsible Leadership
• $4 million for academic opportunities
• $4.5 million for endowed programs
• $4.75 million for facilities
• $11 million for ongoing essential resources

Additional information about the Campaign and ways of giving can be found on the Open Windows Web site.
