Alma Awards Honorary Degrees

Burns delivered the Alma College Commencement address to 279 graduates. She is responsible for leading Dow Corning's major businesses and for driving innovation and growth across the enterprise. She joined Dow Corning in 1983 as a researcher, was named president and chief operating officer in February 2003 and in January 2004 she was named chief executive officer.
Chapoton, a 1957 graduate of Alma, a member of the College's Board of Trustees since 1998 and a resident of Rochester, had been chair of the Board during a time of Presidential transition and major reorganization of the Board's governance structure. Prior to his leadership of Tastee Freez International headquartered in Utica, he was president and owner of various businesses and franchise-related companies including Big Boy, A&W, Dog-n-Suds, Dairy Isle and the Lewiston Lodge.
