Bowen Named Outstanding Fundraiser

Sally Bowen '62, Alma's grants coordinator, was named in October Outstanding Fund-raising Executive by the Mid-Michigan Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals during their annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon in Bay City.

The annual awards recognize individuals and organziations whose achievements have made an impact on mid-Michigan.

Bowen has been a member of the Advancement Staff since 2003 researching and writing grants aimed at major corporations and foundations. The grants help build and update Alma facilities and technology, implement new programs and provide resources that add to the quality of the Alma Experience.

A former Alma College administrator from 1986 to 1990, Bowen was the associate director of annual giving in 1986, associate director of admissions from 1987 to 1988 and director of annual giving until she left the College. Bowen was a program manager for special projects for the United Way of Michigan from 1990-91. She became a development officer at Northwood University in 1991 and held various positions there until 1998. She was director of the Leadership Midland Program from 1999 until 2001.
