Jane Hirschfield to Read Her Poetry

The Alma College English Department presents Jane Hirshfield, as part of the Lucille Clifton Writer in Residence Program. She will be doing a public reading of her poetry on Thursday, October 14, at 7:00 p.m. in the Alma College Library. Admission is free.

Jane Hirshfield is the author of several collections of poetry: Given Sugar, Given Salt; The Lives of the Heart; The October Palace; Of Gravity & Angels; and Alaya. Hirshfield has received numerous honors including The Poetry Center Book Award and fellowships from the Guggenheim and Rockefeller Foundations. Her work has been featured in the New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Nation, Best American Poetry, and many other publications. The Village Voice lauds Hirshfield, "With the exactitude of a surgeon and the sensuous attention of a chef, Hirshfield addresses, essay by essay, the art and craft, and act of making poetry."
