Land Between the Lakes, Golden Pond, Ky.

Alma students assist employees of Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area as they prepare for their 2006 season and its 2 million visitors. With nine campgrounds, sixteen lake access areas, six large visitor facilities and over two hundred miles of trails, Forest Service staff time is precious and the park's volunteer program allows them to accomplish much more work. Students perform trail maintenance, litter clean-up and many other activities.

Alma’s close faculty-student interaction provides numerous benefits such as the ability to do undergraduate research on a graduate level. Alma’s professors treat students more as peers welcoming student input and collaboration on faculty projects. When students are involved in research, faculty aggressively pursue publication of findings including students as co-authors.
