Habitat For Humanity, Bunnell, Fla.

A Collegiate Challenge trip offers groups of students the opportunity to visit one of 250 host Habitat For Humanity affiliates throughout the United States. Participants spend one week working with members of the local affiliate, the local community and future Habitat homeowners to help eliminate poverty housing in the area. In 2005, 12,700 students, including 16 Alma students, participated in the program, working with 250 affiliates and raising over 1.2 million dollars for Habitat for Humanity. Collegiate Challenge helps build your carpentry skills while working to improve substandard housing.

Alma’s off-campus study programs do more than place students in exciting locales to meet interesting people; they also create new opportunities for personal growth and skill development. One of the best ways to learn about other societies and cultures is to study and travel in international settings. You do not always have to know a foreign language.
