Trip Reflections

Day 2

Rise and Shine, it's 6:30 am and we are getting ready to go to the Greater Chicago Food Depisotory. We sorted mushy and moldy grapes, good from bad to save food that would otherwise be wasted. We were glad to aid in efforts that provide over 43 million pounds of food to Chicago's hungry and needy. The rest of our day was freetime. Most of the group went to chill with Nemo and Dory at Shed's Aquarium. Others conqured the city transportation system on their venture to the Museum of Science and Industy. Later that night everyone conviened to go ice skating at the famous Millenium Park. Our leader, Juliann, showed off her mad figureskating skills. After a long day of walking, working, and skating, exausted, we crashed in our beds. Tomorrow would be another long and exciting day.

Alma’s “green” residence hall, Wright Hall, was completed in January 2005. The modern, 60-bed apartment-style hall features a number of environmentally friendly features, including geothermal heating and cooling, recycled-content ceiling tiles and carpeting, energy-efficient windows, rooftop solar heating panels, energy-efficient showers and washing machines, and a computerized energy monitoring system.
