A group of students take a moment to pose together on the famous "Rocky Steps" leading up to the Philadelphia Art Museum

At 9:00 am, everyone woke up to eat breakfast with Brad Guiger, an Alma College alumn, and his adorable son Alexander. After breakfast, we had a brief meeting and loaded up to visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

At the museum, Zack Sabol (class of '06) successfully climbed the stairs of the museum like his hero, Rocky Balboa.  Inside the museum, we divided into small groups.  Kristi Trinkle (class of '06) stated, "It was the most beautiful place in the world and I wanted to spend the whole day there."  After a few hours, we split into two large groups and left the museum.

One of the large groups went to the historical district with Dr. Navarro.  The group saw sites including Indepence Hall and the Liberty Bell.  They actually went into the room where the decision for independence was voted on.  In Liberty Hall, the group read, "In Penn's fair city, calm and grave Hang's the old Bell which rings no more For Freedom sleeps on Freedom's Shore. -Caroline Weston, St. Denis, The Liberty Bell, 1849." Katie Steiber (class of '06) exclaimed, "Our experience in the historical district provided us with a wonderful opportunity to observe the culture and life of our founding fathers." This group also went grocery shopping for our food for the week.

The other group went on a hike to South Street with DeeDee Stanbury.  On the way, they stopped at "The Thinking Man" statue.  Rebecca Ylisto (class of '06) had an "encounter" with a bird in a tree.  The group was astonished when they saw a building covered in glass and recyclables known as "The Magic Garden."  There was a lot of art along the trail, including a giant clothes pin.  Arriving on South Street, the stretch was filled with small stores and food locations.  James Adams (class of '07) confused a cashier, in Taco Bell, by asking for a "pop" instead of a soda.  Everyone had a fantastic time going to many different shops.  We also had a fast and bumpy experience riding the SEPTA subways.

For dinner, both groups enjoyed Philly Cheese Steaks.  One group ate at La Pizzeria and the other group ate at Jim's Cheese Steaks.

Arriving back at Chamounix Mansion, we watched The Oscar's, rested and talked about our exciting day.

Tomorrow, we get to work at the school!
