Ed Lorenz, a national finalist for Campus Compact’s 2010 Thomas Ehrlich Faculty Award for Service-Learning, was nominated for engaging students in issues related to rural development, pollution, border issues and human rights.

Who was punished by Carter’s boycott?
The 1980 U.S. boycott of the Olympics was a major setback for the Soviets by embarrassing them at their long awaited moment on the international stage, said Alma College author Derick Hulme. “The boycott showed a light on the Soviets that was unfavorable,” said Hulme.

News of fatal plane crash hits hard in Alma.
Earl Davidson was “a kind and generous, hardworking man” who helped Alma College during the summers with remodeling things on campus. Dr. Jim Hall was active with many community groups, including Alma College. Memorial services are scheduled. Memories are shared.
