Alma students explore Calvin's thoughts on “vocation” or “calling.”
Student winners announced in the Alma College Student Calvin Contest. “John Calvin acknowledged the religious importance of work that was done for the common good,” said Professor Brian Stratton. “He wrote that ‘no task will be so sordid and base provided you obey your calling in it, that will not shine and be reckoned very precious in God’s sight.’”

Jeff Abernathy is named 13th president of Alma College.
“Alma’s invitation is humbling and thrilling at once,” said Abernathy. “I have known the dedication of Alma’s faculty, staff and administration during all of my years in higher education, and I can’t imagine a better match for my values.”

Jeff Abernathy, Alma’s incoming president in July, writes a column. “At Augustana College, we are taking seriously the Teagle Foundation’s charge to find ways to use what we know about student learning for reform.” Alma College is a member of the Teagle-funded collaborative of seven colleges across the Midwest.
