Denelle Niles Brown serves as the Associate Vice President for Student Life and Director of Diversity and Inclusion. Denelle joined Alma College in 2013, as the inaugural Director of Diversity and Inclusion. Ms. Brown is charged with leading diversity and inclusion efforts for the college which are designed to enhance our campus climate. She shares the college belief that diversity is an institutional responsibility and as such Ms. Brown works collaboratively with our President, administrators, Committee on Diversity and Inclusion, various other committees, students, student organizations and other members of the college community.
Previously, Ms. Brown served as the Director of Multicultural Student Life at the University of Tennessee. Denelle is a student advocate, drawing on more than 18 years of experience in higher education. She is a native of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Southern Illinois University. She has a strong commitment to student retention and success, with an intentional focus on preparing students for an increasing global and inclusive society.
