My greatest accomplishment at Alma is
One of the best opportunities I have had as an Alma student was the opportunity to study abroad the summer after my sophomore year. It can be quite difficult for education majors to fit in a study abroad, so I was pleased to be able to spend two months in Germany studying the language and connecting with people from all over Europe.
I'd advise an Alma freshman to
take advantage of all of the opportunities to study abroad. Language programs, P-Global grants, travel spring terms: they all offer great opportunities to get out of the Alma “bubble” and experience life in another culture.
I'd tell a student considering coming to Alma
take the chance to talk with a professor or visit with a student in the major you’re interested in.
What I like most about studying at Alma is
the community. From fellow students to the faculty, everyone at Alma cares. It is a supportive community that cannot be found on many other college campuses.
My favorite part about living on campus is
You’re never more than five minutes away from anything: class, an event, or food.
I went to
Europa Kolleg: Kassel, Germany, in Summer 2013 for 7 weeks. It was an amazing experience living with a host family while studying German. It was also a unique experience being, not only the only American, but the only English speaker in my program. It challenged me to really use and practice my language skills.
