Jillian Thompson

Class of

2014

My hometown is

Marshall, MI

My major(s):

IPHS

After I graduate I plan to

After graduation I will be attending the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to become a physical therapist. After I graduate from grad school, I hope to either find a job in the physical therapy world or to enter into the Peace Corps for two years.

My favorite place on campus is

The pool during Water Aerobics class with the local community seniors

Some of my favorite professors include

If I had to pick one, I would say Dr. Anderson because she has worked closely with me for the past 4 years, but really the entire IPHS department professors are my favorite (they are seriously some of the best professors you will ever meet). I also enjoy working with Dr. Stupica from the psychology department.

My greatest accomplishment at Alma is

Presenting at the regional ACSM conference and presenting at Honors Day on research that I completed while out in Colorado and with the Girls on the Run Program.

I'd advise an Alma freshman to

Challenge yourself with your academics and discover your passions by joining clubs or a team. Also know that it is okay to leave time for yourself to relax and not be caught up in a constantly busy schedule.

I'd tell a student considering coming to Alma

The experiences that you have at Alma cannot compare to anywhere else from the multiple organizations you can join (teams, clubs, greek life) to the knowledge that the professors within the IPHS program (and across the campus) are there to help you succeed. With that being said, hard work is needed to really succeed at Alma. So be ready to have fun and concentrate on your studies.
