Weston A. Bryan, ’13
Within six months of graduation, Weston passed all four sections of the CPA exam! “The knowledge I brought with me from my business courses at Alma allowed me to seamlessly transition into my career and the critical thinking skills I developed at Alma prepared me to handle new challenges and opportunities.”
My hometown when I was a student was
I graduated in
Business Administration – Accounting emphasis
I am now
Since graduating from Alma
I passed all four sections of the CPA exam on the first attempt and will be eligible to obtain my CPA license as soon as I have completed the job experience requirement.
My Alma education
allowed me to seamlessly transition into my career and the critical thinking skills I had developed at Alma prepared me to handle new challenges and opportunities. Passing all four of the CPA exams quickly allowed me to focus on my career and not spend as many nights studying for the exams. Having an Alma College education to start me on my career path is something I am very grateful for and will continue to draw upon as my career progresses.
I played three years of basketball for the Scots and was a member of SIFE (now Entrepreneurs in Action) while at Alma. Whether it was going to a soccer game, a choir concert or one of the many other activities going on around campus, there was always something entertaining to do.
My favorite professors(s) included
the entire business department. All were great professors and I enjoyed my accounting classes as well as all of the other classes I took. My favorite class, however, was Intro to Creative Writing with Professor Rybicki. The creative writing class really allowed me to find something new I enjoyed and was passionate about. The class really combined individual and group learning to make the most out of the time we had together. Another favorite was of course the spring term trip I took to Germany studying Martin Luther and the Reformation. I took the course my senior year and wish I would have taken a travel spring term every year I was in school. The things you have an opportunity to do and see with your classmates on those trips is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.
My most vivid/best memory of my time at Alma is
one night during the winter when we got over a foot of snow and the campus was covered. A few of my friends and I grabbed some sleds and found some great sledding spots on campus. It was a great time and some other students joined in after awhile.
