Since graduating from Alma, I have been in graduate school at Wayne State University working toward my Ph.D. in chemistry. I am in an inorganic lab, working on catalytic activation of carbon dioxide using Pincer complexes. I also teach recitation sections and lab for general chemistry at Wayne State.
My Alma education
Alma College has prepared me for the future in ways that I didn’t even realize until I graduated. The small class sizes at Alma allow for personal relationships between the students and the faculty which facilitates a great learning environment not available at large universities. The opportunities provided by the chemistry department above and beyond the classes also provided very important experience. The opportunity to be a T.A. as well as work in independent research labs greatly improved my resume as I prepared for life outside the “Alma College bubble”.
