The 20th anniversary performance of the Alma College Festival of Carols continues a holiday tradition that marks the beginning of the Christmas season for the mid-Michigan community.
The more than 140 members of the Alma College Glee Club, College Chorale and Alma Choir, directed by Will Nichols and accompanied by Tony Patterson, will present the 2013 Festival of Carols at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 in the Remick Heritage Center.
Watch the live Web stream of Sunday’s concert on the Alma College Website.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and up, $5 for children and youth 18 and under, and free for Alma College students and staff. Seating is reserved. Call (989) 463-7304 for ticket information.
Colorful lights, traditional Christmas music and a “warm and energetic atmosphere” highlight the performance, says Nichols.
The program will include “Pipers Carol” and “Joyous Dance (Polish Carol)” by the Glee Club and “O Little Town” and “O Yule Full of Gladness” by the College Chorale.
The popular men’s ensemble Scots on the Rocks will sing “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” while the female group Pretty in Plaid presents “The Little Drummer Boy.”
Selections by the Alma Choir include “Holly and Ivy,” “Still, Still, Still” and “Carol Noel,” while the combined choirs sing “Night of Silence” and “Sussex Carol.”
