The Alma College Percussion Ensemble’s fall concert will feature a variety of music by instruments both common and not-so-common.
The performance takes place at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 in the Remick Heritage Center. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and up and free for Alma College Students, faculty and youth 18 and younger. Seating is reserved. Call (989) 463-7304 for ticket information.
“There will be many unique instruments used in this concert, including cans, conch shells and a lion’s roar,” says Director of Bands David Zerbe. “The ensemble will perform a wide variety of music.”
The show includes “Third Construction” by John Cage, “The Palace of Nine Perfections: Procession of the Emperor K’ang-hsi” by Eric Ewazan and “Kalabash” by Nigel Westlake.
The ensemble also will perform “High Noon” by Chris Potter, “Jitterbug Waltz” by Fats Waller, arranged by Ben Brown, “The Blues Walk” by Clifford Brown, arranged by the ensemble, “ Tell Her That You Saw Me” by Pat Metheny, arranged by Ben Brown, and “Time Check” by Don Menza, arranged by Chris Ozinga.
