Friesner Named Vice President for Finance and Administration

“I’m thrilled to be part of the Alma College community again.” — Todd Friesner, 1979 alumnus.

After 35 years in business and finance positions, including 18 years as a senior financial services executive, Todd Friesner is returning to his alma mater as chief financial officer.

A 1979 Alma College alumnus, Friesner has been named vice president for finance and administration at Alma College, effective Jan. 12, 2015.

“Todd brings extensive experience as a senior executive with a proven track record in the areas of budgeting, management, financial services and strategic planning,” says Alma College President Jeff Abernathy. “He also is a creative leader and forward thinker who has demonstrated the ability to build teams and encourage staff development.

“His familiarity with the mission and values of Alma College is an added bonus,” says Abernathy. “I welcome Todd back to Alma and look forward to our partnership.”

From 2007 to the present, Friesner has served as senior vice president and Great Lakes Division manager for Wells Fargo Dealer Services, an automobile finance company, responsible for the management and oversight of seven regional business centers.

Previously, he held senior vice president positions with National City Corporation and Key Bank, with responsibilities in the areas of product analysis, credit administration, portfolio analysis and technology management.

“I’m thrilled to be part of the Alma College community again,” says Friesner, a member of the Alma College Athletics Hall of Fame whose academic experience included double majors in business and history. “Based on my own experience, I understand the importance of both academic and extracurricular experiences for Alma students. I’m pleased to be part of the senior management team and look forward to helping enhance the total student experience at Alma.”

As a student-athlete, Friesner earned 12 letters in three sports. At the conclusion of his senior year, he was recognized as the recipient of the Dr. Leroy Block Scholar Athlete Award and awarded an NCAA post-graduate scholarship.

Friesner received an MBA from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad Graduate School of Management, Executive MBA Program, in 1995. He and his wife, Donna, plan to relocate in Alma.

The vice president for finance and administration is the chief administrator and advisor to the president for business affairs, with oversight of financial services, facilities and service management, food services, human resources, information technology services, mailing and printing, and College Corner Coffee and Books.
