The variety of music, including a piece by Justin Rito, an Alma graduate and current doctoral candidate in music composition, makes this a fun concert, says Dave Zerbe, director of bands.

The ensemble will perform “Primal Air” by Rito, “Sleep” by Eric Whitacre, “Pageant” by Vincent Persichetti and “Sabre and Spurs” by John Philip Sousa.

The consort will play “Mother Earth” by David Maslanka, “Sonoran Desert Holiday” by Ron Nelson, “Irish Tune From County Derry” by Percy Grainger, “Xerxes” by John Mackey and “Short Cut Home” by Dana Wilson.

Eighty-four students comprise the Kiltie Wind Ensemble, while the consort features the top players from each section in the ensemble.
