Theatre Company – THD 150

Professor Kristeen Crosser
Office Heritage Center Scene Shop

Course Objective:
To help students develop and apply technical theatre skills in a hands-on, production-based, laboratory environment.

Course Requirements:
All students are required to participate in the production process for all theatre and dance shows over the course of the term.

Required Reading:
Scene shop Safety Guide. (Provided by the professor) Every student is required to read the guide and pass the accompanying open-book quiz with a 90% or better.

Grading Criteria:
This is a laboratory-based class. PARTICIPATION, in both quantity and quality, will be the primary focus for grading. Student’s progression in skills and commitment to growth will also be a factor.

Expectations:
Students are expected to attend their regular class-time. Students are permitted one (1) absence over the course of the term. Any further absences will result in a ½ letter grade reduction. Make-up lab sessions will need to be discussed with the instructor and a viable excuse for absence is required.
Three (3) tardies equals 1 absence. You are expected to be on time to both the lab session and the crew call times.
Students may choose to take a crew position for one of the Theatre & Dance productions this term in lieu of the laboratory requirement. You must discuss this option with the professor at the beginning of the semester.

Exam Period:
Each student will be asked to spend one hour in one of the shops to assist in end of the term clean up. Times will be posted closer to the end of the term.
