Class of 1989
BA in Religious Studies and Art and Design; Art Education Certification from the Art Institute of Chicago
Profession: Administrative Assistant
Location: Montana
After graduating from Alma, Bernadette went on to pursue graduate work at the University of Chicago Divinity school. After one year she changed directions and chose to go to the Art Institute of Chicago to earn her Art Education Certification.
She is currently working as an administrative assistant for the Dean of University of Washington Medical School in the state of Montana. Prior to this career she was an editor for Newcomer's Handbooks. In addition to working outside the home, she is a full-time mother of three children.
She says, "Not having ended up in the art field, I still wouldn't change my undergraduate studies in art. It was a profoundly personal time of study for me. What I learned about myself and how I can express that visually/artistically impacts and shapes me every day."
The best this about being a student at Alma..."The amazing faculty - in both areas of study (religion and art). I was supported, encouraged and challenged by my professors. They were wonderful."
