New Media Studies (NMS)

Professors Clark, McNally, Ottenhoff, Riley and Vickery; Associate Professors Hawley, Lawrence and Lopez-Isnardi.

This interdisciplinary minor in New Media Studies is designed to expose students to the applications and effects of new communication media. Note: the New Media Studies minor is not available for Communication majors.

Minor Requirements (26-28 credits)

  1. Core of 12 credits consisting of COM 110, 210 and 303.
  2. Twelve credits, in at least two departments, selected from: ART 224, 230, 232; BIO 380 (Digital Media in Scientific Research); CSC 114, 120; MUS 201, 214, 215; other courses pre-approved by NMS faculty committee.
  3. NMS 499 (2-4 credits): Advanced independent study. Projects must be co-directed and involve at least one faculty member who teaches a course in the NMS minor.
