WOMEN'S TENNIS: Alma Continues Winning Ways, Defeat Olivet 7-2

The Alma College Women's Tennis Team (11-4, 3-1) took a dual match from the Olivet Comets today by the score of 7-2 and now find themselves with the second most wins in MIAA play and tied for the most wins overall in the conference.

The Scots had a great start to today's play as they swept all three double matches. They also grabbed the number 2, 4, 5, and six singles matches on their way to the win.

The Scots will take the hard top again this coming Tuesday, April 8th for a dual match against the Kalamazoo Hornets.

Alma College received a $150,000 grant from the National Science Foundation in August 2009 for research that could eventually lead to the development of more effective drugs to treat and prevent certain kinds of influenza, including human infections of swine and avian flu. "This project provides an opportunity for students to get involved in important laboratory research," says faculty member Jeff Turk, principal investigator.

Judd Folske

Judd Folske is entering his first year as Alma College Head Baseball Coach in the 2007-2008 season after spending two years as an assistant coach with the program. Coach Folske joined the Maroon and Cream in the fall of 2005 after stops at NCAA Division I Central Michigan University, and stints at Div. II schools Saginaw Valley State University and Ferris State University. He also serves the athletic department as assistant athletic director.

While head coach of the CMU Chippewas, Folske posted a 131-98 mark. In 2000, he finished in a tie for first in the MAC conference with a record of 41-17 (18-8). Folske retired after the 2003 season at CMU, and went to work as an assistant at SVSU, where he worked in that capacity for two seasons.
