Women's Tennis Finds Success at Four Singles in 8-1 Loss to Olivet

ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College women's tennis team fell to MIAA opponent Olivet College 8-1 Saturday afternoon in Alma, Mich., to fall to 2-4 on the season and 1-1 in MIAA action with the loss.
Alma opened the day with losses at one, two and three doubles. Kelly Schwartzkopf and Lindsay Wagner narrowly lost at one doubles - even forcing match point - with a 9-8 (7-5) loss.

At four singles Lindsay Wagner picked up the only win of the day defeating Jaime Morrison 6-1, 6-3. Emily Noss was the only other Scot to come close in singles action, losing 7-5, 6-3 at five singles.

Alma returns to action March 28 when it travels to Tri-State for an MIAA match.

 

Spring Term at Alma is a one-month immersion on a single academic topic that offers learning experiences not typically available during the more traditional 15-week fall and winter terms. For example, during Spring Term ‘07 students explored important cultural sites in China, worked to restore a Jewish Holocaust cemetery in Poland, analyzed ethic politics in Scotland, and studied medieval literature in London.

Cheyenne Luzynski

Alma College Athletics appointed Cheyenne Luzynski as head volleyball coach beginning with the 2007 spring non-traditional season. Luzynski is the eighth head coach in the 31-year history of Alma College volleyball.

Luzynski has served as an assistant volleyball coach for two seasons and has led the junior varsity program during that time. She has served as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program, leading its junior varsity program and is an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s track and field teams at Alma College. Additionally, Luzynski has been named an assistant Athletic Director and serves as the Senior Woman Administrator within the department.
