Scots Pick Up First MIAA Victory With 8-1 Win Against Adrian
LANSING, Mich. - The Alma College women's tennis team improved to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in MIAA action with an 8-1 win against Adrian College Tuesday afternoon in Lansing.The Scots swept the Bulldogs in doubles action and made quick work of the Bulldogs in singles action.
At number one singles, Jessica Eichorn (Alma/Ithaca) took the opening set before falling to Lindsey Eshel for the only defeat of the match.
At number two, three and four singles, Laura Kendrick (Marysville), Kelly Schwartzkopf (Dryden/Almont) and Lindsay Wagner (Lapeer/Lapeer East) did not allow a point by their Adrian competitors, as each won 6-0, 6-0.
At five singles Amanda Leppek (Almont) defeated Adrian's Leeann Brooks 6-1, 6-0 as Avis Groath (Clinton Twp./Frazer) rounded out the victory with a 6-4, 6-0 win against Ellen Kroll.
Alma is next scheduled to take on Aquinas, but the match will be rescheduled from its current March 16.
