Jim Fox took over the women's tennis program at Alma College in the 2006 season and is entering his third year at the helm for the Scots. In his first two seasons, Fox led the Scots to identical 3-12 records, finishing 8th in the MIAA conference. In 2008, a glimpse of the direction Coach Fox is taking the team was seen as they tallied their first double digit wins season in over two decades, finishing with an overall record of 12-10.

Fox has 20 years of coaching under his belt, and for the last 13 has been the coach for the Alma High School girls team, during which time he has led the program to a 99-21-3 record, winning ten conference championships, and two regional championships.

Fox has had 11 of his 13 Alma teams qualify for the state tournament.

Fox also served as the Men’s Tennis Coach at Ithaca High School from 1987-90.

Prior to joining the Scots, Fox was a high school biology teacher in Ithaca for 31 years and has been retired for seven years. He and his wife Leslie have two daughters, Johanna and Anneliese.

Spring Term at Alma is a one-month immersion on a single academic topic that offers learning experiences not typically available during the more traditional 15-week fall and winter terms. For example, during Spring Term '09, students toured cultural sites in Peru, studied alternative energy in Sweden, analyzed theatre and dance in London, and examined Native American culture at the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota.
