Alma Women’s Soccer Receives NSCAA Team Academic Award for 8th Year in a Row

The Alma Women's Soccer Team has received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2001-2008 academic year.  The NSCAA award is given out when an entire team posts a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.  The Scots finished with an overall 3.30 team GPA for the '07-'08 academic year.  The team has received this award for all 3 years under Head Coach Jeff Hosler.  It is the 8th year in a row overall, the longest streak in MIAA conference.

"I am extremely proud of this award, it continues to demonstrate the girl's dedication ot their academics," head coach Jeff Hosler said.

The MIAA Team GPA Award is presented to conference teams that achieve a 3.30 or better grade point average for an entire academic year.  The Alma College Women's Soccer Team has also received this award for the 2007-20087 academic year.

Alma students can explore the environmental wonders of the Galapagos Islands, practice Spanish language skills, study Ecuadorian culture, complete coursework in business finance, and fulfill a South American internship in entrepreneurship through Alma College's one-of-a-kind partnership with Equatorialis University in Quito, Ecuador.

Jeff Hosler ‘02 joined the Alma College Athletics staff as the Scots women’s soccer coach in 2006 and has helped the Maroon and Cream rise as one of the most talented young teams in the MIAA.

In his time at Alma, Hosler became one of the best players in the 30 years of Scots soccer. He remains the all-time assists leader and ranks in the top ten in career goals and in the top five in career points. He helped the Scots to their second MIAA title, first-ever NCAA Regional Championship and first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance in 1999 en route to first team All-MIAA and third team All-Mideast Region honors. He would go on to earn first team All-MIAA accolades again in 2001 and was named to the conference’s second team in 2000.
