JESSICA SWAN NAMED WOMEN'S SOCCER MIAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The MIAA has named Alma M/F Jessica Swan its Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending November 9.

Swan (Romeo, MI), a sophomore, led the Scots to their first-ever appearance in an MIAA championship game. She scored both goals, including the game-winner with 18 seconds remaining in the second overtime, to lift Alma to a 2-1 tournament tournament victory over Hope.

It was the sixth game-winning goal of the season for Swan. It's the third time this season she has been named Player of the Week.

Alma D Morgan Rudd (Jackson, MI) was named MIAA Defensive Player for Week 3.

The Championship Calvin team was named as Defensive Players of the Week.
 

 

Alma is one of only 100 colleges and universities to be named to the Templeton Honor Roll in the Templeton Guide: Colleges That Encourage Character Development.

Jeff Hosler ‘02 joined the Alma College Athletics staff as the Scots women’s soccer coach in 2006 and has helped the Maroon and Cream rise as one of the most talented young teams in the MIAA.

In his time at Alma, Hosler became one of the best players in the 30 years of Scots soccer. He remains the all-time assists leader and ranks in the top ten in career goals and in the top five in career points. He helped the Scots to their second MIAA title, first-ever NCAA Regional Championship and first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance in 1999 en route to first team All-MIAA and third team All-Mideast Region honors. He would go on to earn first team All-MIAA accolades again in 2001 and was named to the conference’s second team in 2000.
