ALMA WOMEN'S SOCCER MF JESSICA SWAN NAMED MIAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Alma College midfielder Jessica Swan Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the week ending October 26.

Swan, a sophomore from Romeo, MI, scored the winning goal in both contests in leading the Scots to a pair of MIAA victories last week. Her unassisted goal in the second half provided the margin of victory in a 2-1 road win over Saint Mary’s, and she scored Alma’s first goal in a 2-0 win over Adrian. It’s the second time Swan has been named Player of the Week this season.

Swan was joined by Albion College goalkeeper Caitlin Bowman (Defensive) as its Players of the Week in women’s soccer.

The second-place Scots host third-place Hope College on Wednesday at Scotland Yard, beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Regardless of the outcome of that game, Alma (6-1 in MIAA and 11-5 overall) will host a first-round MIAA Playoff Game on Saturday at Noon, also at Scotland Yard.

Since 2003, twenty-seven Alma College students have won prestigious national fellowships, scholarships and awards, including 15 Fulbright fellowships and multiple Truman, Udall, and Gates-Cambridge scholarships.
