WOMEN'S SOCCER: Tara Fitzsimmons Named Week #3 MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

 

Sophomore Tara Fitzsimmons (Marshall/Marshall) 

Alma, Mi.-  Sophomore forward Tara Fitzsimmons (Marshall/Marshall) had a great week for the Scots, scoring four goals in three games and helping Alma go 2-1 for the week. For her efforts, Tara was named the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week (week #3).

Fitzsimmons scored a goal in all three of the Scots game s last week, including both goals in a 2-1 victory over Huntington University. The week was a great one for Alma and already in week three, they surpassed their win total from a year ago. The Scots sit with a record of 5-2-1 and will begin conference play this week. 

 

Alma students can explore the environmental wonders of the Galapagos Islands, practice Spanish language skills, study Ecuadorian culture, complete coursework in business finance, and fulfill a South American internship in entrepreneurship through Alma College’s one-of-a-kind partnership with Equatorialis University in Quito, Ecuador.

Jeff Hosler
Graduation: 2002

Jeff Hosler '02 joined the Alma College Athletics staff as the Scots women's soccer coach in 2006 and has helped the Maroon and Cream rise as one of the most talented young teams in the MIAA.

In his time at Alma, Hosler became one of the best players in the 30 years of Scots soccer. He remains the all-time assists leader and ranks in the top ten in career goals and in the top five in career points. He helped the Scots to their second MIAA title, first-ever NCAA Regional Championship and first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance in 1999 en route to first team All-MIAA and third team All-Mideast Region honors. He would go on to earn first team All-MIAA accolades again in 2001 and was named to the conference's second team in 2000.
