WOMEN'S SOCCER: Scots Fall to Wooster, 5-1

The Alma College Women's Soccer team traveled to Wooster College today and came home with their first loss of the year by the score 5-1.

The Scots held their own in the first period and went into the half trailing by the score of 1-0. Alma held the score for the first 17 minutes of the second half before Wooster added their second goal at the 62 minute mark.

The Scots continued to play hard but gave up their third goal at the 81st minute. Within the next six minutes, Wooster piled up the goals and extended their lead to 5-0 with three minutes remaining.

In the 88th minute, sophomore Tara Fitzsimmons (Marshall/Marshall) decided she wasn't going to let her team get shut out and found the back of the net on a beautiful shot from 30 yards out. The goal made the score 5-1, and that is how the game ended.

Freshman Alex Kirchner (Racine, Wis./Washington Park) played the full ninety minutes in the net for the Scots and recorded 14 saves. Coach Hosler praised her play and pointed out that on three of Wooster's goals, the first shot was saved and the goals were scored on the rebound.

With the loss, the Scots' overall record becomes 3-1-1 on the season. The Scots go to Indiana on Thursday to take on Huntington University at 5:00 p.m.
