WOMEN'S SOCCER: Alma Freshman Jessica Swan Takes Home MIAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

Alma, Mi.- Jessica Swan (Romeo/Romeo) had herself a pretty good first week of her collegiate career as she scored three goals in her first two games and was named the MIAA Offensive Player of the week.

Swan, just one member of the youth movement happening within the Alma College Women's Soccer team, scored her first goal as a Scot Saturday against La Roche College on the way to a 2-2 tie. The next day, the Scots took on a Point Park College and Swan went right back to work finding the back of the net twice and leading the Scots to the 2-0 win.

Swan has a knack for being in the right place at the right time and taking advantage when opposing goalkeepers don't do a good job clearing the ball as two of her goals came off rebounds and the other a blocked clear attempt by the opposing goalkeeper.

The Scots will continue to look to this talented freshman to help keep the team going in the right direction as coach Jeff Hosler continues to work to make the Alma College program an MIAA powerhouse.

Alma College students report levels of educational experiences and faculty interaction that exceed the national norms by significant amounts, according to the findings of the 2007 National Survey of Student Engagement. In the 2006 study, Alma students reported a level of interaction with faculty that ranked among the top five percent in the nation.
