WOMEN'S SOCCER: Anne Decker to Join Alma College Staff For 2007 Season

Alma College has named Anne Decker an assistant women’s soccer coach for the 2007 season. Decker is currently completing her undergraduate work at Central Michigan University where she was a four-year starter for the Chippewas and a leader for CMU. She set new MAC records for wins (38) and shutouts (27) in a career

As a goalkeeper for CMU, Decker set school records for saves and shutouts before beginning her senior season. She was twice named first team All-MAC and earned second team honors as a sophomore. She is one of just two Chippewas to be named first team All-MAC in consecutive years. She has also been recognized as an all-region player by the NSCAA.

In her senior season, Decker boasted a record of 13-4-2 in goal with eight shutouts and posting a goals-against average of 1.02. She also became the first CMU women’s soccer player to be named to the first team NSCAA Scholar-Athlete team.

She has served as a junior varsity coach for Mt. Pleasant High School’s girls soccer program as well as working with Central Michigan University’s camps and developmental academies.

Decker is a native of Troy, Mich., and is working towards her degree in physical education. Decker will be a tremendous addition for the Maroon and Cream in 2007.

Alma College’s teacher preparation program was rated “exemplary” in 2007 following a comprehensive review by the Michigan Department of Education.
