DII Northwood Just Edges Scots In Final Home Game of 2006

ALMA, Mich.
- Alma women's soccer lost its final home game of the regular season to Division II Northwood University today, 1-0.

Allyson DeLaLuz scored on an assist from Courtney First in the 40th minute of the game to take the only lead it would need.

Generating scoring opportunities was not the problem for the Scots as they had seven shots. Senior Rachel Comfort (Easpointe/South Lake) had three shots in the game to lead the Maroon and Cream.
Alma now looks ahead to the MIAA Tournament where they will most likely face Calvin College.

 

Alma is one of only 100 colleges and universities to be named to the Templeton Honor Roll in the Templeton Guide: Colleges That Encourage Character Development.

Jeff Hosler '02 joined the Alma College Athletics staff as the Scots women's soccer coach in 2006 and has helped the Maroon and Cream rise as one of the most talented young teams in the MIAA.

In his time at Alma, Hosler became one of the best players in the 30 years of Scots soccer. He remains the all-time assists leader and ranks in the top ten in career goals and in the top five in career points. He helped the Scots to their second MIAA title, first-ever NCAA Regional Championship and first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance in 1999 en route to first team All-MIAA and third team All-Mideast Region honors. He would go on to earn first team All-MIAA accolades again in 2001 and was named to the conference's second team in 2000.
