Scots Snap Losing Streak With 3-1 Win at Tri-State

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Alma College women's soccer team snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 3-1 win at Tri-State on Saturday (Oct. 8).

The Scots improve to 4-7-1 overall and 3-6 in MIAA play with the win.

Chelsey Volant (Gaylord), Lauren Longbucco (Holly/Our Lady of the Lakes) and Rachel Comfort (Eastpointe/South Lake) scored in the win while Comfort added an assist. Kristine Husband (Ferndale) also recorded an assist in the victory.

The Scots return to action at Scotland Yard Oct. 12 against Kalamazoo College.

 

Alma College’s partnership with the Pine River Superfund Citizen Task Force, an EPA-sanctioned Community Advisory Group (CAG), received the 2008 Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Award for Campus-Community Collaboration, sponsored by Michigan Campus Compact.The Task Force is recognized as one of the most influential and active CAGs nationally and as having the largest membership of any CAG in the United States.

Jeff Hosler '02 joined the Alma College Athletics staff as the Scots women's soccer coach in 2006 and has helped the Maroon and Cream rise as one of the most talented young teams in the MIAA.

In his time at Alma, Hosler became one of the best players in the 30 years of Scots soccer. He remains the all-time assists leader and ranks in the top ten in career goals and in the top five in career points. He helped the Scots to their second MIAA title, first-ever NCAA Regional Championship and first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance in 1999 en route to first team All-MIAA and third team All-Mideast Region honors. He would go on to earn first team All-MIAA accolades again in 2001 and was named to the conference's second team in 2000.
