Scots Lose to Saint Mary's 3-1

The Alma College Scots Women Soccer team lost 3-1 on Saturday, September 17, 2005 to St. Mary’s. 

Lauren Hinton, of St. Mary’s, scored the first goal in the 33 minute of the game on a fast break.  The Scots answered back in the 41 minutes with Rachel Comfort scoring on a rebound off of the St. Mary’s goalkeeper on a penalty kick.   St. Mary’s Carolyn Logan scored in the 44 minute of the first half to end the half at 2-1 St. Mary’s.  In the second half, St. Mary’s Lauren Hinton scored the only goal in the 78 minute to finish the game 3-1 St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s and the Alma Scots will square off again on October 16, 2005 in Notre Dame, Indiana at 2:00 p.m.

 

Alma College has phenomenal 90 percent placement rates into medical and law schools, compared to a national average of 46.6 percent for medical school placement. More than 90 percent of all Alma graduates report working in full-time positions or attending graduate school within six months of graduation.

Jeff Hosler '02 joined the Alma College Athletics staff as the Scots women's soccer coach in 2006 and has helped the Maroon and Cream rise as one of the most talented young teams in the MIAA.

In his time at Alma, Hosler became one of the best players in the 30 years of Scots soccer. He remains the all-time assists leader and ranks in the top ten in career goals and in the top five in career points. He helped the Scots to their second MIAA title, first-ever NCAA Regional Championship and first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance in 1999 en route to first team All-MIAA and third team All-Mideast Region honors. He would go on to earn first team All-MIAA accolades again in 2001 and was named to the conference's second team in 2000.
