Women's Soccer

Scots Defeat Thunder, 3-2

The women's soccer team came into Wednesday's match looking for its first win of the season and took it from Tri-State with a 3-2 victory.

The first half was played almost entirely with the Scots on the attack; however, the only goal was scored by the Thunder late in the first period on a break away, and the Scots went into the half trailing 1-0. Alma came out hungry in the second half and netted three goals before the 25 minute mark in the second period. Tri-State added a goal later but the Scots held on and walked away with the win.

The Scots' goals were scored by three of their freshman standouts. The first was scored by Chelsea Volant, Gaylord, at the 39:30 mark. Her classmates shortly followed as freshmen Christina Harig, Honor (Benzie Central), and Erin Blackburn, Pinckney (Pinckney Com.), each fired in their own goals for the Scots.

Alma next hosts St. Mary's College this Saturday the 18 of September in a game scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.

Alma’s “green” residence hall, Wright Hall, was completed in January 2005. The modern, 60-bed apartment-style hall features a number of environmentally friendly features, including geothermal heating and cooling, recycled-content ceiling tiles and carpeting, energy-efficient windows, rooftop solar heating panels, energy-efficient showers and washing machines, and a computerized energy monitoring system.
