Charles Goffnett, Camp Director
Charles Goffnett is entering his 20th season as head coach of Alma's women's basketball team. His coaching record includes three MIAA conference titles, appearances in NCAA tournaments in 1989, 1992, 1994, 1996 and 1997, and the 1992 national championship.

His previous coaching duties include a one-year stint at the University of Texas, two seasons at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, and two seasons at his alma mater, Central Michigan University. Coach "G" also coached basketball at the high school level in his hometown at Shepherd High School.

COST
The fee, including food and residence hall housing, is $285 for each participant. Girls who elect to commute will be charged $200; commuters must be living at home or with immediate relatives. Lunch and dinner are included in the commuter cost.

DEPOSIT
A deposit of $100 is due with the application form; the balance must be paid by June 22, 2007. No refunds will be granted after June 20, 2007, unless an eligible replacement participant can be found. Alma College reserves the right to cancel the clinic on or before June 12, 2007.

HOUSING/FACILITIES
All boarding students will be housed in campus residence halls and supervised by camp personnel. The Alma College pool will be available for free swimming with qualified guards on duty at all times. Other available facilities include racquetball and tennis courts and an eight-lane track.

REGISTRATION
Registration begins Sunday, June 24 from 2-4 p.m. The camp will conclude Thursday, June 28, at NOON with an awards program. Parents are encouraged to attend the program.

 

Alma’s “green” residence hall, Wright Hall, was completed in January 2005. The modern, 60-bed apartment-style hall features a number of environmentally friendly features, including geothermal heating and cooling, recycled-content ceiling tiles and carpeting, energy-efficient windows, rooftop solar heating panels, energy-efficient showers and washing machines, and a computerized energy monitoring system.

Charlie Goffnett

One of the top Division III coaches in the nation, Charlie Goffnett has built the Alma women's basketball program into a national powerhouse. With three MIAA titles, five NCAA Tournament berths and one national championship under his belt, Goffnett is one of the most accomplished coaches in the nation.

Charlie Goffnett began coaching the women's golf team in 1990. As head coach, he has established a competitive program that is always on or near the top of the MIAA standings. In 1997, the Scots captured their third MIAA title under Goffnett's guidance.
