WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Senior Ashley Matuzak Named Second Team All-MIAA

Alma, Mi. - Senior forward, Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel C.C.) was named to the All-MIAA Second Team for her efforts for the Scots in the 2007-08 season. This is the third consecutive year that Matuzak was named to an All-MIAA team.

This season, Matuzak led the Scots in scoring with 360 total points. Her 15 points/game, ranked her fourth in the MIAA and her 42 made three point field goals, placed her fifth in that category.

Over her four year career at Alma College, Matuzak has been a great player and an outstanding leader for the Scots. She ranks in the top ten in almost every statistical category including rebounding, blocks, field goals and points and is also very proud of her 308 career personal fouls. 

 

 

Alma College students report a level of interaction with faculty that ranks among the top 5 percent in the nation, according to the results of the 2006 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).

Charlie Goffnett

One of the top Division III coaches in the nation, Charlie Goffnett has built the Alma women's basketball program into a national powerhouse. With three MIAA titles, five NCAA Tournament berths and one national championship under his belt, Goffnett is one of the most accomplished coaches in the nation.

Charlie Goffnett began coaching the women's golf team in 1990. As head coach, he has established a competitive program that is always on or near the top of the MIAA standings. In 1997, the Scots captured their third MIAA title under Goffnett's guidance.
