WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Calvin Holds Off Scots, Take 63-50 Win

Jan. 26, 2008

Alma, Mi.- The Alma College Women's Basketball Team (5-10, 2-6) welcomed the Knights of Calvin College (11-6, 5-3) to Cappaert Gymnasium and fell in a much closer game than the score would indicate, as Calvin took the 63-50 victory.

The Scots trailed the entire game but made a run right before the half to go into the break only trailing by four, 32-28. However, a 29% shooting performace in the second half paired with Calvin converting on 15-19 from the charity stripe led to the home loss for the Scots.

Cadillac sophomore, Meagan Hoblet was the only Scot who reached double figures in the game and ended with 16 points and four rebounds before fouling out with a little under eight minutes left in the contest. Senior Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel C.C.) had a rough shooting day, but had a solid game finishing with six points, four assists and three rebounds. Heather Keenan (Charlotte) added nine points and two assists in her 26 minutes of play.

The Scots take the road this week as they travel to Kalamazoo for a 7:30 tip-off this Wednesday, Jan. 30th.
