WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Scots Fall to #1 Ranked Hope College

Jan. 23, 2008

The Scots (5-9, 2-5) traveled to Holland, Mi. to take on the #1 ranked DIII team in the country and fell to the Dutch (16-0, 8-0) by the score 72-53.

The Scots were within five with two minutes to go in the first half but a late Dutch surge gave them a nine point lead and the momentum going into the second half where they outscored the Scots by ten to take the conference win.

Despite another poor shooting performance as a team, one bright spot for the Maroon and Cream was the play of sophomore gaurd Lacey Best-Rowden (Lansing/Waverly) who shot 6-10 from the field and ended with 16 points and four assists in the game.

The road doesn't get much easier for the Scots as they will host the Knights of Calvin College this Saturday, Jan. 26 for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
