WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Scots Lose Hard Fought Game to Saint Mary's, 56-59

Jan. 05, 2008

Alma, Mi.- Despite shooting only 32 percent from the field and three of 20 from the three point line, the Scots (3-6, 1-2) managed to keep it close, giving themselves a chance to take it into overtime before a three pointer with time running out rimmed out and gave the Saint Mary's Belles (6-6, 2-2)the 59-56 win.

Returning to action after almost three weeks off, the Alma College Women's Basketball team couldn't get a shot to drop and were kept in the game by their aggressiveness on the glass, outrebounding Saint Mary's 43-34 and pulling down an outstanding 19 offensive rebounds.

Leading the way for the Scots was sophomore Meagan (Cadillac) who scored 21 points, grabbed 18 boards and blocked two shots in the game. Senior Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel Catholic Central) scored fifteen points and pulled down four rebounds for the Scots.

The Scots will host Adrian College on Jan. 9 for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
