WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Scots Lose Heartbreaker, Fall to Concordia 64-62

Nov. 27, 2007

Alma, Mi.- The Alma College Women's Basketball Team (1-3)  hosted Concordia College and played well enough to win but fell victim to a freakish shooting night from beyond the three-point line that saw Concordia record 16 of their 22 field goals from behind the arc.

The Scots got excellent play out of their two outstanding forwards as senior Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel Catholic Central) recorded 22 points, five boards and four assists, and sophomore Meagan Hoblet (Cadillac/Cadillac) put up double-double with 14 points and 10 boards while also recording five steals. Alma also got an added boost from sophomore guard Danielle Large (Diamondale/Eaton Rapids) who went four for four from three-point land and ended the game with 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Coming off the bench, Kathryn Bigelow (Alma/Alma) also provided the Scots with energy and had a solid all around game, scoring three points, grabbing five rebounds, and dropping four dimes in the losing effort.

The Scots will play in front of their home crowd again on Thursday as they take on Sienna Heights College with a tip-off time of 7:00 p.m.
